During a school trip from Thrissur to Munnar, a group of minors found themselves in trouble after being caught with five grams of ganja and one gram of hashish oil by Excise officials. Two boys were charged under the Juvenile Justice Act for possessing the illegal substances.

The incident unfolded when the students’ bus stopped for food. Some boys, seeking to smoke a beedi filled with ganja, entered a building to ask for a matchbox, unaware it was the local State Excise office. The boys were quickly apprehended after trying to flee.

Following the arrest, the minors received counselling and were handed over to their teachers. The case has been forwarded to the appropriate authorities. Kerala has seen a rise in drug usage, with recent seizures including nine kilograms of ganja from two migrant laborers.
