NASA astronaut Sunita Williams is excited to visit India soon and meet the ISRO team. During a recent SpaceX Crew-9 Post-Flight News Conference, Williams shared her admiration for India, recalling how awe-inspiring it was each time her spacecraft passed the Himalayas during her nine-month stay in space. She expressed her excitement about visiting her father’s homeland and meeting Indian astronauts involved in upcoming ISRO missions.

Williams, whose father hails from Gujarat, highlighted the significance of India’s strides in the space sector, noting the growing role of the country as a spacefaring nation. She expressed her desire to share her space experiences with ISRO and Indian space enthusiasts, particularly as India continues to expand its space program.

On her trip, Williams plans to bring her Crew-9 teammates, joking that they would be “primed with spicy food.” She also described her unique perspective of India from space, admiring the geographic beauty of the Himalayas and the diverse landscape stretching across the country. From the bustling cities to the tranquil fishing fleets on the coast, Williams marveled at India’s vibrant diversity, visible both day and night, as cities glimmered with lights.

Williams’ successful return from space on March 19 after a record nine-month mission further strengthened her connection with ISRO, which expressed interest in collaborating with her for future space endeavors.
