Pune: NCP (Sharad Pawar) leader Supriya Sule has registered victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Maharashtra’s Baramati constituency, winning by a margin of over 20,000 votes.  It was a high-stakes contest between family members, with the incumbent MP Sule facing off against NCP chief Ajit Pawar’s wife, Sunetra Pawar. Sule secured 2,14,625 votes, while Sunetra Pawar garnered 1,93,823 votes.

The results from the fiercely contested Baramati constituency are in, with Supriya Sule defeating Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s wife, Sunetra Pawar, in their family stronghold. This defeat marks a significant setback for Ajit Pawar, as his family has now lost two consecutive Lok Sabha elections—first his son in 2019, and now his wife in 2024. Despite close competition in some rounds, Sule maintained a consistent lead in most of them.

Having won the last three elections in Baramati, Supriya Sule faced a formidable challenge this year from within her own family. The candidacy of Sunetra Pawar added a layer of intrigue to the contest, capturing public attention from the outset.

Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) President Sharad Pawar campaigned intensively across the Baramati constituency, while nephew Ajit Pawar worked hard to secure victory for his wife, Sunetra. However, the voters ultimately placed their trust in Sharad Pawar’s leadership, allowing Supriya Sule to claim victory once again.
