A tragic incident unfolded in Kerala’s Kannur district when the lifeless body of a four-month-old baby girl was discovered in a well on Monday night. The baby, part of a Tamil Nadu couple who had migrated to Kerala for work, was found in the well near their rented quarters, which housed migrant workers.
As per the complaint filed with the Valapattanam police, the couple had settled in Kerala and retired to the hall of their residence around 9:30 pm on the night of the incident. Around 11 pm, the mother woke up to find her baby missing, and in panic, alerted her husband. Hearing her cries, fellow migrant workers quickly rushed to help and began searching the premises. The baby’s body was later discovered inside the well.
An FIR was registered by the police under Section 194(1) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which deals with investigating suspicious deaths. The infant’s body was sent for an autopsy at Kannur District Hospital, while the parents are being questioned to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Meanwhile, police have assured that a thorough investigation is ongoing. This tragic event follows another fatal incident in Hyderabad, where a four-year-old boy lost his life in an apartment lift accident.
