Faridabad: A 32-year-old woman teacher was allegedly stabbed to death inside a private school in Haryana’s Faridabad on Monday morning. Police arrested the accused, a 21-year-old man, within two hours of the incident and said the attack was allegedly linked to stalking.
According to police, the accused entered the school in Sikrauna village at around 10 a.m. wearing a mask. He reportedly went directly to the staff room, briefly spoke to the teacher and then attacked her with a knife.
Staff rushed to help
Hearing the victim’s cries for help, fellow staff members rushed to the scene and attempted to stop the attacker. However, he managed to flee before police arrived.
The injured teacher was immediately taken to the Civil Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Police said she sustained multiple stab injuries.
Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s husband, Vikas, a case was registered at Sector 58 Police Station. Using technical surveillance and local intelligence, investigators tracked down and arrested the suspect within hours.
Police probe alleged stalking angle
During preliminary questioning, the accused allegedly told investigators that he had known the teacher for nearly two years when she worked at a school in his village. Police said he admitted to repeatedly following her and claimed she had distanced herself and warned that she would file a police complaint against him.
Investigators believe the suspect allegedly carried out the attack after becoming enraged. He is expected to be produced before a court, while further investigation is continuing.
The incident has once again raised concerns over the safety of women, particularly in educational institutions, and highlighted the need for swift action against stalking and harassment complaints.
