A 16-year-old boy allegedly died by suicide after jumping in front of a train in Rajasthan’s Lalsot area on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The incident occurred around 1.30 pm on the Dausa–Gangapur City railway track. According to preliminary information, the teenager had left home in the morning along with a friend to attend school.

Police respond swiftly

Assistant Sub-Inspector Ramkaran Singh of Lalsot police station said that upon receiving information, a police team rushed to the spot.

“On receiving information, our team reached the spot, identified the youth and shifted him to hospital,” he stated.

The boy was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. His family members were informed immediately and reached the hospital soon after.

Investigation underway

Police have initiated inquest proceedings and are recording statements from family members and others concerned to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.

Authorities have not disclosed further details, and an investigation is currently underway.

The tragic incident has left the local community in shock and sorrow.
