A tragic accident claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy after an MGNREGA signboard allegedly fell on him in the Shistergam area of Doru in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Aasif Hussain Rather, a resident of Shistergam.
Boy suffered critical injuries
According to officials, the teenager sustained severe injuries after the signboard reportedly collapsed unexpectedly.
Locals immediately rushed him to Sub-District Hospital Qazigund for emergency treatment.
However, doctors declared him brought dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Police begin investigation
Police officials said they have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further legal proceedings to ascertain the circumstances that led to the accident.
