A neighbourhood cricket game in West Delhi’s Tilak Nagar ended in tragedy after a 15-year-old boy allegedly died following a violent confrontation with three juveniles on Monday evening.
The incident reportedly began with a verbal argument during a cricket match at a local park. According to police, the victim, identified as Nishant, had an altercation with a 12-year-old boy during the game.
Argument escalated into fatal fight
Police said the dispute intensified into a scuffle. The 12-year-old allegedly went home and informed his cousins, aged 17 and 13. The three later confronted Nishant around 7.22 pm.
A fight reportedly ensued, during which the teenager sustained severe injuries to his neck and head and fell unconscious. Family members and locals rushed him to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
An FIR was registered at Tilak Nagar Police Station, and all three juveniles have been apprehended.
Family alleges brutality, police apathy
Nishant is survived by his parents and three brothers. His father works as a tea vendor in the locality.
His mother, Jyoti, alleged that the assault was far more serious than a routine fight among children. “Which children don’t fight? But they killed him,” she said, also alleging that police did not respond promptly when the family approached the station. The boy’s aunt, Rachna, echoed concerns of police apathy.
Police officials stated that the matter is under investigation and that all procedural steps are being followed under the Juvenile Justice Act.
The incident has left the community in shock, raising concerns over rising aggression among adolescents and the need for conflict resolution awareness among youth.
