Teen’s tragic death exposes chilling student violence in Kerala
Shocking social media chats have surfaced following the violent altercation in Thamarassery that led to the tragic death of 15-year-old Mohammed Shahbaz, a Class 10 student from MJHSS Elettil School. The messages display a disturbing lack of regret, with phrases like, “I meant it… I’ll eliminate Shahbaz… Look at his eyes, he has none…” and “His death won’t matter… the police won’t register a case.”
The fatal clash, stemming from a school rivalry, erupted near Triz Tuition Center on Vezhuppur Road. It originated during a farewell event the previous Sunday, where a technical glitch disrupted a dance performance, sparking tensions. These hostilities escalated into a brutal fight on Thursday evening, where Shahbaz sustained a severe head injury. He succumbed to internal bleeding early Saturday at Kozhikode Government Medical College.
Authorities have detained five minors from Thamarassery GVHSS, presenting them before the Juvenile Justice Board. They were later granted bail with instructions to attend further proceedings.
Eyewitnesses report the use of weapons, including a possible Nunchaku. Shahbaz, initially taken home by friends unaware of his critical condition, later exhibited alarming symptoms. His family rushed him to a hospital, where doctors confirmed brain hemorrhage and a skull fracture.
Amid rising outrage, Shahbaz’s relatives allege that adults from outside the locality were also complicit. Investigations continue as the community mourns the senseless loss of a young life.
