A 44-year-old worker from Telangana, who had been in a coma in a Qatari hospital for the past ten months, was successfully flown back to Hyderabad on Friday. Special arrangements were made for his seating on the flight to ensure a safe journey home.
Sayanna Badnapally, a driver by profession, collapsed while eating on December 24, 2023, due to a stroke, which led to his admission to the hospital. “He has not been able to speak since then,” his son Vikas shared.
After months of being bedridden, Vikas appealed to his father’s employer to facilitate his return to India for further medical treatment. He reached out to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, explaining that the family could not afford the high costs of treatment at a private facility.
Mandha Bheem Reddy, president of the Emigrants Welfare Forum and TPCC NRI cell convenor, confirmed that the general administration department had requested NIMS to admit Sayanna upon his arrival in Hyderabad. This compassionate effort highlights the support for expatriates in need during health crises.
