Seven Telangana Students Suicides 30 Hrs Post-Exam

Hyderabad: Within 30 hours of the results of the Intermediate Public Examination for the first and second year being declared in Telangana, seven students, six of whom were girls, allegedly died by suicide across the state, according to a report by the Indian Express.

The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education announced the results on Wednesday. According to the report, the incidents of suicide were reported from Khammam, Mahabubabad, Rajendra Nagar located on the outskirts of Hyderabad, and Kollur.

The examinations were held in February and March, with over 9.8 lakh students appearing for the examination. 61.06% of first-year students passed, and 69.46% of students passed in the second year.

According to a report by the Times of India, last year as well, six students died by suicide in the state, just a day after the Intermediate Public Examination results were declared.

In 2022, the southern state reported 543 student suicides, as per the data of the National Crime Records Bureau. The state ranked 11th out of 28 states in terms of student suicides, with Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Madhya Pradesh occupying the top three positions.
