In Thane district, Maharashtra, police have launched an investigation following the discovery of an elderly man’s body inside a suitcase. The grim find was made near Varap village in Kalyan taluka on Thursday by a passerby who opened the suitcase out of curiosity. The man, believed to be aged between 60 and 70, was found deceased, and police along with sniffer dogs were promptly dispatched to the scene. The body has been sent to a government hospital for a post-mortem examination. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this case.
Rape Case Filed Against 21-Year-Old Man
In a separate case, police have filed charges against a 21-year-old man from Palghar district for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl from Thane city. The case came to light after the teenager, who became pregnant as a result of the assault, delivered a baby at Thane Civil Hospital on August 12. Following a report from the hospital, the Kasarwadavli police have registered a case under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused, a tribal from Malwada near Vikramgad, allegedly assaulted the teenager after she refused to marry him.
