In a deeply concerning case near Kancheepuram, two Class 8 boys have been taken into custody and a Class 9 student is being traced in connection with the alleged assault of a Class 11 girl. The incident occurred on Monday and has raised serious concerns about student safety.
The girl, who studies at a government school and belongs to an underprivileged background, was reportedly approached by the boys under the pretext of seeking academic help. According to the investigation, the three minors — two of them from private schools — along with a 22-year-old local man, took her to an isolated location.
There, the boys are said to have given her a soft drink allegedly mixed with intoxicants. The girl reportedly felt unwell and disoriented after consuming the drink, and the boys are accused of misbehaving with her during this time.
Following a complaint lodged by her parents, the case was handed over to the Kancheepuram All-Women Police Station for detailed investigation. The girl underwent medical examination at a government hospital.
In her statement, she reportedly said the 22-year-old man present at the spot tried to stop the boys but was unable to. While she stated he did not directly harm her, police are continuing to question him.
Reports suggest that one of the minors’ fathers is a DMK functionary, while another is said to be linked to actor Vijay’s political outfit.
