The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board has passed a resolution to relieve all non-Hindu employees from the organization. Announcing the decision after a board meeting, TTD Chairman BR Naidu emphasized that only those practicing the Hindu faith should be entrusted with sacred temple duties.
“This step aligns with the religious sentiments of devotees, who expect temple administration to be managed by individuals who share their faith,” Naidu stated.
This move signals stricter adherence to religious guidelines in governing one of the world’s wealthiest and most-visited religious institutions. It is expected to affect employees across various departments within TTD.
The TTD Trust, an independent government body under the Andhra Pradesh government, manages the Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala—India’s richest and most visited religious center.
New Committee to Safeguard Temple Properties
Alongside the employment decision, the board has also approved the formation of a special committee to protect TTD assets. This initiative addresses growing concerns over property disputes, legal compliance, and encroachments.
“We are implementing strict measures to preserve temple properties and ensure they remain protected for future generations,” Naidu affirmed.
