An eight-year-old boy lost his life in a heartbreaking accident in Ranjankudi village, Perambalur district, on Saturday afternoon. The victim, M Tharshan, a Class IV student from a private school, was riding his bicycle near his home when the incident occurred.

At the same time, M Marimuthu, a driver transporting construction materials from a crusher unit on a tipper-tractor, was passing through the area. In a tragic turn of events, the boy came under the vehicle’s wheels and died instantly.

Local police from Mangalamedu station were alerted, and Tharshan’s body was sent to Perambalur Government Hospital for postmortem.

Authorities registered a case under BNS sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence). The driver, Marimuthu, was immediately arrested.

The sudden loss has left the small village in mourning, with locals calling for tighter regulation of heavy vehicle movement in residential areas.
