In a tragic incident during the Kutchi Community’s cricket tournament for veterans at Dadar Union Sporting Club, 52-year-old Jayesh Savla, a businessman from Bhayandar, lost his life. The unfortunate incident occurred while Savla was fielding near the Dadar Parsee Colony pitch. Positioned close to another ongoing game, he had little time to react when a powerful pull shot from the adjacent match struck the back of his head as he instinctively turned around.

Following the impact, Savla was immediately rushed to Sion Hospital, where, sadly, he was declared dead upon arrival. The cricket community mourned the loss, and Savla’s funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon.

Rohit Gangar, a fellow player in the eight-team tournament known as the Vikas Legend Kutchi Cricket Cup (for 50 plus), recounted the incident, stating, “We had two matches on Monday afternoon, one at Dadar Union and the second at Dadar Parsee Colony pitch. Savla was playing for Gala Rocks against Master Blaster and was positioned at point when the DPC game’s batter hit a pull shot. The ball hit him on the back of his head, exactly where Australia’s Phil Hughes had been hit which led to his death.” The cricketing community is left in shock and grief over this unfortunate incident.
