Two heartbreaking suicides in Bengaluru and Delhi have highlighted the emotional toll of domestic abuse and marital discord. Puneet Khurana, a 40-year-old café owner from Delhi, allegedly took his life by hanging at his home, leaving behind a chilling video in which he accused his wife, Manika Pahwa, and her family of harassing him. Khurana claimed that his divorce proceedings, initially started amicably, had turned toxic with unreasonable demands, including an additional payment of Rs 10 lakh, which he could not afford.

His tragic end mirrors the case of Atul Subhash, a Bengaluru techie who also died by suicide in December. Subhash, like Khurana, had recorded a video and written a note accusing his wife and her family of demanding large sums of money, leading to his emotional distress. Subhash’s family had also claimed he was the victim of false accusations and extortion by his wife.

Both cases shed light on the harrowing experiences of men facing emotional and financial abuse in toxic marital relationships. Khurana’s family accuses Pahwa of emotional manipulation and harassment, including hacking his social media accounts and demanding a lawyer’s fee of Rs 70,000 per month. Similarly, Subhash’s wife had filed several false cases against him, which she later withdrew.

As investigations continue, both families are demanding justice for their loved ones, while the police are working to verify the allegations and counter-allegations made by both sides.
