In a startling incident on Sunday evening, the Thiruvananthapuram-Lokmanya Tilak Netravati Express (16346) was jolted as it passed over stones placed on the tracks between Trikaripur and Payyannur railway stations. The disturbance occurred around 7:55 p.m., approximately 100 meters from the Beericheri railway gate in Kasaragod.

The sudden shake of the express train caught the attention of the locomotive pilot, who immediately reported the unusual rumbling noise from the engine to railway authorities. Prompt action was taken, with railway staff from Payyannur quickly arriving at the scene. They discovered that stones had been deliberately scattered across the track, posing a serious risk to train safety.

Local Chantera police were notified and have since launched an investigation into the incident. This troubling event marks a recurrence of similar incidents in the area; a comparable case occurred in July when gravel was found on railway tracks in Trikaripur, Olavara.

The safety of railway passengers remains a critical concern as authorities work to address these deliberate disruptions. The incident highlights the need for increased vigilance and preventive measures to safeguard rail travel.
