In a startling event on Sunday morning, 13 out of the 22 coaches of the Kisan Express were left stranded after the train unexpectedly split into two near Chakrajmal in Uttar Pradesh‘s Bijnor district. The train, which was travelling from Firozpur to Dhanbad, experienced a coupling break that caused the separation at around 4 a.m., leading to panic among the passengers on board, especially those in the detached coaches.
The train’s engine, along with eight coaches, continued towards Seohara railway station, while the remaining 13 coaches, including the guard’s compartment, were left behind on the tracks near Chakrajmal. These coaches were carrying hundreds of passengers, including a significant number of police recruitment candidates. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, despite the alarming nature of the incident.
Upon realising what had happened, the train’s guard swiftly notified the driver and the police. Railway officials and police personnel responded promptly, arriving at the scene to manage the situation. To ensure that the candidates reached their destination, four buses were arranged to transport them to Bareilly.
Superintendent of Police Dharam Singh Marchal provided details of the incident, confirming that the Kisan Express (13308) was travelling from Firozpur to Dhanbad when the separation occurred in the Seohara police station area. The disruption led to the temporary halting of other trains on the route, including the Jananayak Express at Habibwala and the Punjab Mail at Dhampur, causing anxiety and uncertainty among passengers as services were delayed for nearly two hours.
According to railway officials, the incident was caused by a technical fault, and efforts were immediately made to reconnect the detached sections of the train. Railway engineers worked diligently to rectify the issue, and after successfully reconnecting the coaches, the Kisan Express was able to resume its journey.
The incident has raised concerns about the maintenance and safety of the railway infrastructure, but authorities have assured the public that they are investigating the cause of the coupling break to prevent future occurrences. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to restore normal operations on the affected railway route.
