On Saturday, 31 August, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate three new Vande Bharat Express trains via video conferencing. These additions aim to enhance connectivity in Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.

Details of the New Vande Bharat Trains

Chennai Central to Nagercoil

  • Route: The train will depart from Chennai Central but operate regularly from Chennai Egmore. It will run daily except Wednesdays.
  • Stops: Tambaram, Villupuram, Tiruchirappalli, Dindigul, Madurai, Kovilpatti, and Tirunelveli.
  • Timings: Train No. 20627 will leave Chennai Egmore at 5:00 am and reach Nagercoil at 1:50 pm. The return train (No. 20628) will depart Nagercoil at 2:20 pm and arrive in Chennai at 11:00 pm.
  • Purpose: Facilitates travel to pilgrimage sites like Arulmigu Meenakshi Amman Temple and Kumari Amman Temple.

Madurai to Bengaluru Cantonment

  • Route: Runs six days a week, excluding Tuesdays.
  • Stops: Dindigul, Tiruchirappalli, Karur, Namakkal, Salem, and Krishnarajapuram.
  • Timings: Train No. 20671 will depart Madurai at 5:15 am and arrive in Bengaluru Cantonment at 1:00 pm. The return train (No. 20672) will leave Bengaluru at 1:30 pm and arrive in Madurai at 9:45 pm.
  • Purpose: Connects the temple city of Madurai with Bengaluru.

Meerut City to Lucknow

  • Route: Operates six days a week, excluding Tuesdays. Begins regular service from Lucknow on Sunday and from Meerut on Monday.
  • Stops: Moradabad and Bareilly.
  • Timings: Train No. 22490 will depart Meerut City at 6:35 am and arrive in Lucknow at 1:45 pm. The return train (No. 22489) will leave Lucknow at 2:45 pm and reach Meerut City at 10:00 pm.
  • Purpose: Boosts religious tourism with quicker travel to sites like Digambar Jain Temple and Mansa Devi Mandir.

These new services will add to the existing network of over 100 Vande Bharat Express trains, connecting more than 280 districts across India.
