Lucknow police have booked fifteen hospital employees after two transgender individuals were allegedly attacked at a private medical facility near Rahimabad on Tuesday evening. Three of the accused have been taken into custody.
The incident unfolded when Madhu and her companion visited the hospital to seek customary Holi donations, a long-standing regional tradition. However, what started as a routine request quickly turned violent, with hospital staff allegedly turning aggressive, assaulting them, and snatching their valuables.
“They not only beat us but also took my necklace and cash,” Madhu, a resident of the Mall area, stated in her police complaint.
The attack triggered an immediate backlash from the transgender community, who staged protests by blocking the busy Hardoi Road, demanding justice and strict action against those involved.
SHO Rahimabad, Anubhav Patel, confirmed that an FIR has been registered under BNS sections 352 (provocation with intent to breach peace), 353 (criminal intimidation), 191 (rioting), and 304 (chain snatching).
