A 19-year-old college student from Tripura, Sneha Debnath, has been missing in Delhi since the morning of July 7, triggering widespread concern among her family and state authorities. Sneha, a student of Delhi University’s Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, last contacted her family around 5:56 a.m., stating she was going to Sarai Rohilla railway station with a friend named Pitunia.
Later that day, her phone was found switched off, and she has been unreachable ever since. When questioned, Pitunia told the family that she never actually met Sneha that day, deepening the mystery.
Sneha’s family traced a cab driver who revealed he dropped her near Signature Bridge—a location known for minimal surveillance and safety issues. Unfortunately, CCTV coverage in that area is poor, hindering the investigation. Authorities began a multi-agency search involving Delhi Police and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on July 9, focusing on a 7-kilometer radius around the bridge.
The family’s worry has intensified due to Sneha’s bank account showing no transactions in the past four months, raising questions about her means of sustenance in Delhi.
On July 13, Sneha remained untraceable, prompting Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha to step in. The Chief Minister’s Office announced that urgent directives were issued to law enforcement agencies for swift and thorough action.
Sneha’s family has issued a public appeal for any leads or sightings.
