A tragic accident in Nattika, central Kerala, early on Tuesday morning left five people dead and several others injured when a truck crashed into a roadside tent where a nomadic family was sleeping. The incident occurred around 4:30 AM on a national highway under the jurisdiction of Valapad police station. The victims, who were part of a nomadic group, had set up temporary shelters along the highway for the night.

The crash claimed the lives of two women and two children, aged 1.5 and 4 years, while five others were injured. Among the injured, two are reported to be in critical condition. The injured victims were immediately transported to Thrissur Government Medical College Hospital for treatment, where they are being monitored for their condition.

According to police, both the truck driver and the cleaner have been detained for questioning as part of an ongoing investigation into the incident. Authorities are working to determine the cause of the crash, with officials from the police department stating that they are examining all possible factors.
