Chennai: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has reiterated its demand for the abolition of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), calling for medical admissions to be brought under the control of individual states.
The party said its stand on the entrance examination remains unchanged and urged the Union Government to make significant changes to the country’s education framework.
TVK seeks education under State List
According to the party, education should be shifted from the Concurrent List to the State List, allowing states greater autonomy in framing education policies and admission procedures.
As an interim measure, TVK proposed the creation of a Special Concurrent List, which it said would provide states with greater authority over education-related matters while broader constitutional changes are considered.
Calls for end to NEET
Reiterating its long-standing opposition to NEET, the party argued that medical admissions should be handled by individual state governments rather than through a single national entrance examination.
TVK’s latest demand comes amid a nationwide debate over the future of NEET, following recent allegations of examination irregularities and renewed calls for reforms from political parties and student groups.
