Patna: After West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he needed a “slap of democracy” for calling the Trinamool Congress leaders “extortionists”, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav has joined the rest of the opposition to support her.
On Wednesday, in response to Sushma Swaraj’s comment that Banerjee “crossed all limits”, Tejashwai said that she must also tweet about the foul language used by the Prime Minister himself. He accused her of attacking Banerjee “despite knowing the truth”. “I hope you are listening to the below the belt remarks by the Prime Minister. You are his elder, knowledgeable and experienced…” he tweeted.
It can be recalled that after the Prime Minister dared Banerjee to arrest him for chanting “Jai Shri Ram” on Monday, she, on Tuesday, lashed hit back at him for his attack on the Trinamool Congress.
The two leaders have also been going back and forth over the Cyclone Fani ‘missed call’ issue. While sources in the Prime Minister’s Office said that he had placed two calls to the West Bengal Chief Minister to talk about the situation, she did not respond. Commenting on the claims, Mamata Banerjee said that she did not recognise him as the Prime Minister and would speak once a new PM comes to power.
