KRISHNAGIRI: Police have arrested two men following a disruptive incident during a festival in Reddipatty village on Tuesday that left two children and a police officer with injuries.
During the festivities, some locals burst firecrackers, and two individuals reportedly threw a firecracker at a private school bus. The explosive landed on the windshield and went off, causing minor injuries to two children inside the bus.
Responding to the report, Inspector Jaffur Hussan from Kallavi police station arrived at the scene and arrested K Thennarasu (29), a resident of Reddipatty, for allegedly throwing the firecrackers. While Thennarasu was being taken to a primary health centre for a routine checkup prior to being produced before a magistrate, another villager, V Arun (26), allegedly threw a stone at the inspector. The officer sustained a head injury and was treated at the same health centre.
Both Thennarasu and Arun were later remanded to judicial custody. Authorities have tightened security in the area to prevent further disturbances.
