In a heartbreaking incident at Kulgarhi village in Punjab’s Ferozepur district, two elderly brothers died of heart attacks within hours of each other on Sunday, leaving the entire village in deep sorrow.
The deceased were identified as Rajwant Singh Sandhu (71) and his younger brother Bhagwant Singh Sandhu (69). Their sudden demise has not only devastated the family but also shaken the close-knit village community.
Elder brother dies in the morning
According to reports, Rajwant Singh suffered a sudden heart attack at around 8 am. He passed away before he could be shifted to a hospital for treatment.
His untimely death came as a shock to the family. The last rites were performed at the village crematorium later in the afternoon, with relatives and villagers gathering to pay their final respects.
Younger brother unable to bear the grief
Family members said Bhagwant Singh was deeply attached to his elder brother and was unable to cope with the sudden loss. After returning home from the cremation, he went to Rajwant’s room and lay down on the same bed where his brother had breathed his last earlier in the day.
At around 3 pm, Bhagwant’s health suddenly deteriorated. Before the family could react, he too suffered a heart attack and passed away.
Villagers described the brothers as inseparable, sharing a lifelong bond of affection and mutual support. As news of the double tragedy spread, people from across the area visited the grieving family to offer condolences.
