KOZHIKODE: The Kozhikode City Police have intensified efforts to apprehend two police personnel allegedly linked to the Malaparamba sex trafficking case, which came to light after a raid on a rented apartment on Iyyapad Road.
The accused officers have been identified as Vigilance driver K Shaijith and control room driver K Sanith. Both were named in the investigation report submitted by the Nadakkavu Inspector to the City Police Commissioner. The report includes evidence indicating the officers’ direct connection with the trafficking network.
The probe is now focusing on their financial transactions to determine whether they received any proceeds from the illegal operation. Police suspect that monetary benefits may have motivated their involvement.
The racket was allegedly run by P Bindu, a native of Wayanad, who had already been booked earlier in another case by the Medical College Police. She is accused of operating the trafficking centre for nearly two years from the apartment.
In last week’s raid, nine individuals were arrested, including six women and three men. With the inclusion of the two policemen and building owner Animesh Kumar, the total number of accused has now risen to 12.
Authorities are now under pressure to ensure a transparent and thorough investigation, especially given the involvement of law enforcement personnel in such a serious crime.
