NAVI MUMBAI: A 35-year-old woman working as a teacher in a school located in Ulwe was taken into custody on Monday for allegedly initiating an indecent video call with a Class 10 student.
The incident came to light when the boy’s mother discovered a screen recording on his mobile device. The video reportedly showed the teacher engaging in a private video chat with the student while appearing partially unclothed, said a police official.
As per the investigation, the teacher contacted the student through a video call on Sunday night. During the call, she allegedly behaved inappropriately and used suggestive language, which the student saved on his phone. Upon viewing the clip, the boy’s mother confronted him, and he disclosed that the woman in the video was his teacher.
“The complainant informed us that the video contained visuals of the teacher in an indecent state,” said the investigating officer.
Following the revelation, the boy’s mother filed a complaint with Koparkhairane police on Monday. The police registered a case under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused teacher was arrested and produced in court, where she was remanded to one-day police custody.
This incident has prompted discussions around digital safety, student vulnerability, and the importance of setting boundaries between educators and students in digital interactions. Authorities are continuing to probe the matter to ensure no further misconduct has occurred.
