Today, at the ancient site of Dwarka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed an underwater puja by plunging into the Arabian Sea off the coast of Gujarat. Renowned for its association with Lord Krishna, Dwarka was formerly a prosperous metropolis that is presently thought to have been submerged beneath the ocean for centuries.
Divers can see the underwater remains of ancient Dwarka that have been excavated by archaeologists off the coast of Dwarka, close to Beyt Dwarka island.
Today, visuals of PM Modi in scuba gear and descending into the azure waters to offer prayers at the site steeped in historical and spiritual significance went viral on social media.
To pray in the city of Dwarka, which is immersed in the waters, was a very divine experience. I felt connected to an ancient era of spiritual grandeur and timeless devotion. May Bhagwan Shri Krishna bless us all. pic.twitter.com/yUO9DJnYWo

In honor of the historic city, PM Modi offered peacock feathers as a symbolic offering to Lord Krishna.
“To pray in the city of Dwarka, which is immersed in the waters, was a very divine experience,” PM Modi wrote on X, sharing his experience. I was transported back in time to a bygone era of sublime spirituality and unending devotion. May we all be blessed by Bhagwan Shri Krishna.”
In Gujarat’s Devbhumi Dwarka district, the Prime Minister earlier today dedicated “Sudarshan Setu,” the nation’s longest cable-stayed bridge, spanning 2.32 km across the Arabian Sea and joining the mainland Okha with the island of Beyt Dwarka.
The footpath of the bridge is decorated with verses from the Srimad Bhagavad Gita and images of Lord Krishna on both sides, giving it a distinctive design.
The 2.32 km bridge, including 900 metres of central double span cable-stayed portion and a 2.45 km long approach road, has been constructed at a cost of ₹ 979 crore, as per an official release.
