Hyderabad’s food safety task force recently uncovered alarming hygiene violations at several popular eateries in the city. On March 21, 2025, inspectors visited Kshatriya Foods in Madhapur, where they flagged significant cleanliness issues. The kitchen was found with stagnant water, broken tiles, greasy chimneys, and clogged drains filled with food waste. The storage conditions were also concerning, with raw vegetarian and non-vegetarian items stored together, and meat being improperly labeled. Synthetic food colors were being used, and food handlers were not adhering to basic hygiene standards, such as wearing gloves or headcaps.

Later that day, the task force inspected Varalakshmi Tiffins in Gachibowli. Serious hygiene lapses were found, including raw ingredients stored on the floor, unclean walls, and clogged drains causing water stagnation. Rodents were spotted near the kitchen, and food waste was not being regularly removed. The kitchen was in disrepair, with broken flooring, greasy exhausts, and unhygienic grinding areas.

On March 20, the task force had also conducted an inspection at Subbayya Gari Hotel in Kondapur, Gachibowli. The premises lacked essential documentation like Water Analysis reports and Medical Fitness Certificates for staff. The kitchen was found to be extremely unhygienic, with unclean stoves, broken flooring, and food waste in clogged drains. The restaurant also failed to maintain its oil quality, with samples collected for lab analysis.

The inspections have raised serious concerns over the safety and cleanliness standards at several eateries in Hyderabad.
