The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) reported nine cases of cheating and 14 instances of impersonation on the first day of the UP Board Class 10 and 12 exams, which were held on February 24, 2025. According to media reports, over 4.8 million students participated in the exams, which were conducted in two shifts and covered subjects such as Hindi, military science, and healthcare.
Cheating incidents were mainly reported from Farrukhabad, where six cases occurred during the Class 10 Hindi exam. Other instances of cheating were noted in Pratapgarh, while details of the remaining two cases were not disclosed. Additionally, 14 dummy candidates were caught attempting to impersonate registered students in various districts. Farrukhabad had six cases, Ghazipur reported four, and Kannauj, Jaunpur, Firozabad, and Pratapgarh each saw one case of impersonation.
To combat these violations, the UPMSP has implemented stringent measures under the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act 2024. While students caught cheating will not face criminal charges, their answer sheets will be withheld, and their results will be determined accordingly. The board has also increased monitoring with CCTV surveillance, biometric verification, and flying squads to ensure fairness and transparency in the exam process. Authorities have warned that strict actions will be taken against any further violations as the exams continue.
