Delhi: The Aadhaar card, a crucial 12-digit identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), serves as a key proof of identity and address for Indian residents. It is widely used for various purposes such as filing income tax returns, school or college admissions, and travel.
Given the significance of the Aadhaar card, it is essential to keep it updated to ensure its accuracy and legitimacy. UIDAI recommends that citizens update their Aadhaar details every 10 years. This helps maintain accurate information, facilitates access to government services, and helps prevent fraud.
UIDAI is currently offering a free Aadhaar update service until September 14. This deadline has been extended multiple times over the past year, but there is no official confirmation on whether further extensions will be provided. Aadhaar holders are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to update their details without incurring the standard update fee of Rs. 50.
