8 children among 15 killed in Tractor-Trolley Mishap in UP

Kasganj :In the Uttar Pradesh district of Kasganj, a tractor-trolley carrying villagers fell into a pond, killing at least 15 people. The villagers, comprising mostly women and children, were traveling to the Ganges on the auspicious Magh Purnima occasion in order to take a holy bath.

Confirming the grim toll, IG of Aligarh range, Shalabh Mathur, reported that the accident resulted in the loss of 15 lives, including eight children and seven women. According to Mathur, the driver of the tractor lost control while attempting to avoid a collision with a car on the road.

The villagers were on the tractor trolley when it capsized and fell into the muddy pond.

The survivors were taken by ambulance to Kasganj’s district hospital.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sent his condolences to the victims’ families, expressing his deep sorrow over the incident. He declared ₹2 lakh in ex gratia to the departed person’s next of kin and ₹50,000 for the injured.

The chief minister gave the Kasganj district officials instructions to make sure the accident victims received prompt and sufficient medical attention. Additionally, he commanded officials to mobilize resources for prompt assistance at the location, which is under the jurisdiction of the Patiali police station in the Kasganj district, and ordered a prompt response in terms of rescue operations.
