New Delhi: The Lord Ram idol which has been placed at the Ayodhya Temple was revealed today, days ahead of the consecration ceremony on Monday. The idol depicts Lord Ram as a five-year-old child in a standing posture holding a golden bow and arrow.
The 51-inch idol, sculpted by Mysuru-based artist Arun Yogiraj, is made of black stone.
The entire idol was revealed over the course of two days by the temple authorities in anticipation of the consecration ceremony. The idol was covered with a cloth when images of it being placed inside the sanctum sanctorum were made public on Thursday.
This morning, a different photo with just the idol’s eyes covered surfaced. In the afternoon, the entire appearance was finally revealed, revealing the deity’s face along with the golden bow and arrow.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said that all arrangements for the grand ceremony on January 22 have been made.
“Ramlalla has been installed in the temple. All arrangements, including that of infrastructure, medical facilities and medicines have been made,” Mr Pathak told news agency PTI.
On Monday, PM Modi, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, and a number of other dignitaries will be present at the inauguration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
On January 12, the ceremonies leading up to the temple’s consecration began. According to sources, PM Modi will conduct the “Pran Pratistha” puja on January 22. The primary Pran Prathistha rituals will be carried out by a group of priests under the direction of Lakshmikant Dixit.
