Despite facing numerous challenges, eight children from the Hari Nagar slum and Chungi Parade area have excelled in the UP Board exams. These children, three girls and five boys, once worked as ragpickers and waiters to support themselves but have now made their parents proud by securing first division with distinction in both high school and intermediate results declared by the UP Board.

Individual Achievements

Ritik, Amit, Deepak Vishwakarma, and Nazo secured impressive marks in the high school exams, with aspirations ranging from engineering to working in the private sector. Similarly, Khushboo Bano, Shani, and Komal performed exceptionally well in the intermediate exams, each with their own dreams of pursuing careers in the banking sector, top Indian institutions, and becoming an IPS officer, respectively.

Family Backgrounds and Aspirations

Despite coming from families with modest means, these children are determined to carve out better futures for themselves and their families. Their aspirations reflect their desire to uplift their parents’ livelihoods and make them proud.

Support from ‘Shuruaat Ek Jyoti Shiksha Ki’

The children received support from ‘Shuruaat Ek Jyoti Shiksha Ki’, an organization dedicated to helping slum children pursue their education. Founder Abhishek Shukla facilitated their admission to schools and provided educational resources, while teachers associated with the organization conducted daily classes ranging from six to eight hours. The collective efforts of the organization and the hard work of the students culminated in their outstanding performance in the UP Board exams.

Inspiring Others

The success of these slum children has inspired more children to pursue education and shape their futures positively. Despite initial challenges in convincing their families, the organization’s efforts have paved the way for a brighter future for these children and many others like them.
