Haridwar: Leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), Rakesh Tikait, said dialogue should be the primary means of finding a solution and that ongoing talks with the Centre are ongoing following rounds of fruitless negotiations between the Centre and farmers regarding their demands.

“The environment is safeguarded by the residents of the forests. Adivasis worship the “Jungle” and live in forested areas ranging from Bihar to Andhra Pradesh. There is no direct confrontation between farmers and the army. Individuals from farming backgrounds also make up the army. Communication is the key to finding a solution. “Conversations with the Center are ongoing,” he declared.

Leader of the protesting farmers, Sarwan, has called for Delhi Chalo, and another farmer has lost their life at the Khanauri border, increasing the total number of deaths to four.

The 62-year-old farmer, Darshan Singh, from Amargarh village in Bathinda district, had been staying at the Khanauri border since February 13.

According to Sarwan Singh Pandher, the general secretary of the Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, Darshan Singh passed away from cardiac arrest.

“He is the fourth farmer martyr of this agitation, having been at the Khanauri border. Darshan Singh (62) has been identified as him. A heart attack claimed his life,” Mr. Pandher said.

A member of the victim’s family should be given a job, he said.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced on Friday that talks with farmers are underway and that the Center has formed a committee consisting of three ministers.

“The center has formed a 3-member committee of ministers and is conducting discussions and negotiating with farmers,” the Finance Minister said in response to ANI regarding the farmer protests.

Additionally, Ms. Sitharaman stated that PM Modi worked for small and marginal farmers as well and that he had spared no effort to guarantee the welfare of farmers.

“I have a number of lists outlining everything that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done to support farmers. PM Modi has done everything possible to promote the welfare of farmers, from raising their income to helping with even the smallest of costs. The Finance Minister stated, “He works for even the small farmers.”
