New Delhi: On the day when the Indian Constitution was drafted, that is on November 26, Vice President took to Twitter to congratulate the nation and convey his best wishes.
Though there was nothing odd about the wishes, many a Twitterati was sceptical as Venkaiah Naidu had forgotten to use two core principles from the constitution, namely ‘Secular’ and ‘Socialist.’
These two words were the outcome of the 42nd amendment to the Indian Constitution during the Emergency period. It was amended by the then prime minister Indira Gandhi in 1977.
In his Tweet, Venkaiah Naidu tweeted saying that he would like to felicitate the countrymen on this occasion and remember the people who laid down the constitution, especially Dr. B R Ambedkar.
The retweets on the Vice President’s tweet urged him to update his preamble, as a result of which the tweet was deleted immediately.
