A viral video circulating on social media purportedly shows objects related to black magic being unearthed at the residence of KPCC president and Kannur MP K Sudhakaran. The video, aired by television channels, depicts individuals extracting items allegedly associated with black magic from buried locations at Mr. Sudhakaran’s Kannur residence.
Following the broadcast of the video, Mr. Sudhakaran, the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president, addressed the media, clarifying that the video was old and asserting his lack of concern regarding such allegations.
The footage reportedly includes dialogues attributed to Mr. Sudhakaran and senior Congress leader Rajmohan Unnithan, who was also allegedly present at the scene. When asked about their involvement, Mr. Sudhakaran referred inquiries to Mr. Unnithan and dismissed the threats posed by the video.
Regarding reports of similar findings at the party headquarters, Mr. Sudhakaran acknowledged awareness of the claims but did not provide further details.
The video purportedly shows a third individual, suspected to be an astrologer, revealing figurines of Theyyam, ash, and colored powders believed to be used in black magic rituals. A voice in the video claims that one of the items recovered was intended to affect the mind.
The incident has sparked widespread discussion on social media platforms. In a Facebook post, Congress ideologue Cherian Philip criticized those who continue to practice superstitions and black magic in modern society, equating such behaviors with criminality. He urged progressives, activists, and media to reject and condemn such practices unequivocally.
