A viral video of an 11-year-old Jaipur girl playing with a syringe has sparked concern over social media’s influence on children. The Rajasthan High Court, citing serious negligence, transferred custody of the girl and her 7-year-old brother from their paternal grandparents to their mother.

Justice Pankaj Bhandari rebuked the grandparents for being irresponsible caregivers after reviewing the girl’s YouTube account, which contained 130 videos. Her mother’s lawyer argued that the elderly grandparents were unaware of her health, neglectful, and allowed her to consume excessive junk food.

The children had been living with their grandfather and grandmother since their father passed away last year. However, their grandfather refuted the court’s stance, claiming they had no knowledge of her videos and accusing her maternal grandmother of influencing the court with false accusations.

He also insisted that the videos were filmed before their father’s death and vowed to challenge the ruling in the Supreme Court.

The case has reignited discussions on social media exposure for children and parental accountability in the digital age.
