New Delhi: Actor-politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay alleged on Saturday that the DMK has an underground deal with the BJP, suggesting that voting for the DMK is effectively voting for the BJP. Addressing a large rally in Namakkal, Vijay stated, “The AIADMK and BJP are in alliance, and people know they are fit for nothing. DMK has an underground deal with the BJP. If you vote for the DMK, it’s indirectly voting for the BJP. They may pretend they’re rivals, but you should keep in mind that they’re friends behind the scenes.”
Thousands of supporters had gathered since morning despite the intense heat, and five individuals fainted, receiving first aid before being transported to hospital by ambulance.
Criticism of AIADMK-BJP alliance
Embarking on his campaign in the western Kongu region, Vijay criticised the AIADMK-BJP alliance as “inappropriate and opportunistic.” He reiterated that TVK would never compromise with what he described as the “fascist BJP regime.”
Vijay also accused AIADMK of forgetting the ideals of the late party matriarch J Jayalalithaa, despite often invoking her name. He criticised their alliance with BJP, claiming it was politically motivated rather than for the welfare of Tamil Nadu. “What has the BJP government done for Tamil Nadu?” he asked the rally attendees.
Allegations against DMK governance
Vijay further alleged that the DMK looted Tamil Nadu and vowed that TVK would confront them in the 2026 Assembly elections. He announced plans to take stringent measures against individuals involved in kidney theft once TVK comes to power.
Highlighting the plight of impoverished power loom workers, he said the brutality of usury and exploitation had forced people into desperate situations. According to Vijay, kidney theft had occurred in a hospital owned by a DMK MLA and was a consequence of the DMK government’s failure to improve the living conditions of weavers.
Conclusion
Vijay’s Namakkal rally marked a strong political statement ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, combining criticism of opposition alliances with promises to tackle social injustices like kidney theft and exploitation of vulnerable communities. His campaign reflects TVK’s focus on both governance accountability and populist welfare initiatives.
