Following the March 28 earthquake in Myanmar, a widely circulated image of a child peering through a hole has been falsely linked to the disaster. Social media users claim it depicts a child trapped under debris in Mandalay, the quake’s epicenter.

However, this claim is false. The image was traced back to October 2024, months before the Myanmar earthquake, and was originally posted on TikTok. Reports indicate that the photo is actually from Syria and has been misattributed.

This is yet another instance of misleading disaster-related visuals spreading online. Users are urged to verify sources before sharing sensitive content.
