Surat: Mimicry is one of the most common forms of entertainment. From famous comedians to your class clown, many turn to this form of comedy to generate laughs, no matter how childish it may seem.
Avdesh Dubey, a toy hawker on a train, however, was arrested by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Friday, May 31, from a platform at the Surat Railway station for mimicking politicians such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal among others. A video of him doing one of his expressions had gone viral on social media, leading to his arrest.
The RPF informed that Dubey migrated from Varanasi to Valsad a couple of years ago and had been selling toys on trains since then.
While an FIR was filed against Dubey under several sections of the Railway Act 1989, including section 44 (prohibition on hawking and begging), 145 B (spreading nuisance or using abusive language in railway carriage), 147 (unlawful entry into train), among others, RPF Inspector (Surat) Ishwar Singh Yadav, stated that “his way of talking to customers is quite impressive”.
Dubey was produced before a Railway court on Friday afternoon after which he was remanded to judicial custody for ten days. He was also directed to pay a fine of Rs 3,500.
