A shocking video of passengers leaping over Automated Fare Collection (AFC) gates at the Jama Masjid Metro Station in Delhi has gone viral, leaving social media users stunned and concerned. The 52-second clip, filmed on February 13, shows commuters jumping the gates amid cheers from onlookers, with many recording the unusual act on their phones.

Some users expressed their disbelief and frustration. One user, Dassy, commented, “Such people lack civic sense. I’ve never seen anything like this ever in Delhi metro.” Others raised alarms about security, with Wordpecker calling the incident “shocking” and pointing out the breach of law in the presence of authorities.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) responded, attributing the incident to a “momentary reaction” due to a temporary surge in passengers. The DMRC claimed that the situation was brief and never out of control, with security personnel present to manage the crowd and counsel passengers.

The incident occurred on the Violet Line at the Jama Masjid station, and while some criticized the authorities for the apparent lack of order, DMRC assured the public that it was an isolated incident.

This controversial moment has sparked debate about the safety, security, and management of the metro system, especially as Delhi Metro celebrates over 20 years of service.
