A video allegedly captured during a virtual session of the Delhi High Court has gone viral on social media, showing a lawyer engaging in inappropriate personal behaviour just moments before the online hearing began.
Footage raises serious concerns
The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday while the court was not in session, with participants waiting for the judge to join. In the clip, the lawyer is seen in his room, wearing court attire and partially facing away from the camera. A woman in a saree appears in front of him, and the footage shows the lawyer pulling her hand, drawing her closer, and giving her a peck, despite her apparent hesitation.
The identities of both the lawyer and the woman have not been confirmed, and the authenticity of the viral footage is yet to be verified by authorities. The video has received more than 89.7K views in under two hours of being posted.
Netizens react
The video has sparked a strong reaction online. Supreme Court lawyer Shashank Shekhar Jha reshared the clip with the caption, “Delhi High Court.” Another user, advocate Kumar Deepraj, clarified, “He is not a judge. He seems to be an advocate. This is the Court of Justice Jyoti Singh, Delhi High Court, and the court was not in session.”
Some social media users have also expressed sarcastic remarks about the lawyer’s behaviour, highlighting concerns over professional ethics and accountability in virtual court proceedings.
Previous incidents raise concerns
This is not the first time such incidents have made headlines. In June 2025, a man attending a Gujarat High Court video conference was caught on camera apparently relieving himself on a toilet during the proceedings. The Gujarat High Court fined him ₹1 lakh and ordered 15 days of community service for the misconduct.
Legal experts have warned that such incidents could tarnish the image of the legal profession and emphasise the need for strict guidelines during virtual hearings to maintain decorum and accountability.
