A viral video claiming that a Basant Panchami celebration took place inside an Agra Metro train has ignited a social media frenzy, sparking heated debates over the use of public transport for personal events. The footage shows a lively group celebrating in festive style, raising questions about whether the event was officially approved or a spontaneous, unauthorized stunt.

The situation escalated when social media influencer Divyata Upadhyay posted a video claiming that a Haldi ceremony was being held inside the train, with a barricaded coach draped in yellow glitter curtains. Her playful comment, “Delhi Metro has crowds, but Agra Metro has Haldi ceremonies,” quickly gained traction, suggesting that the metro might be leasing out coaches for private events. This led to further speculation and confusion.

However, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) intervened to clarify the situation, dispelling the claims of a Haldi ceremony. According to UPMRC, the event was a private Basant Panchami celebration, not a wedding function, and they clarified that such celebrations are not permitted on the metro. The celebration, featuring women dressed in yellow with flowers and balloons, was part of a special event arrangement, and the metro authority has since begun promoting bookings for birthdays, pre-wedding shoots, and other family events.

The viral incident has sparked widespread discussion on the evolving use of public transportation and the balance between tradition, public decorum, and modern-day urban planning.
