Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the completion of 12 years of the Union Government under his leadership, highlighting what he described as transformative changes in development, governance, security and public welfare across the state.

In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude for the Centre’s support and credited several flagship schemes and policy initiatives for accelerating Chhattisgarh’s development journey over the past decade.

CM highlights progress in tackling Naxalism

One of the key areas highlighted by Sai was the fight against Naxalism. According to the Chief Minister, continuous support from the Central Government in both security and development initiatives has helped Chhattisgarh move closer to the goal of becoming free from Left-Wing Extremism.

Sai stated that schemes such as the Special Central Assistance Scheme, Security Related Expenditure Scheme and Special Infrastructure Scheme have strengthened the state’s security apparatus. He also noted the role of modern equipment, air support and specialised jungle warfare training in improving operational capabilities.

The Chief Minister said that the combined approach of strengthening security while simultaneously expanding development projects has produced significant results in previously affected regions.

Infrastructure expansion in remote areas

The letter also highlighted improvements in infrastructure across remote and tribal regions of the state.

According to Sai, more than 3,222 kilometres of roads and several major bridges have been constructed in areas that had remained isolated for decades. Improved connectivity has helped facilitate access to education, healthcare, markets and government services.

The Chief Minister further pointed to the expansion of mobile network coverage, electricity supply and public infrastructure as important milestones in integrating remote communities with mainstream development.

Focus on tribal welfare

Sai emphasised that tribal welfare has remained a major priority during the past 12 years.

He cited initiatives such as PM-JANMAN, the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, Eklavya Model Residential Schools, forest rights recognition programmes and tribal museums as significant steps towards empowering tribal communities.

According to the Chief Minister, these programmes have contributed to preserving tribal heritage while also expanding educational and economic opportunities for indigenous populations across Chhattisgarh.

Healthcare services witness expansion

The Chief Minister also credited the Centre’s healthcare initiatives for improving medical infrastructure and access to treatment.

He highlighted schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, the National Health Mission and the Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission as key drivers of healthcare expansion.

According to Sai, these initiatives have helped strengthen hospitals, improve healthcare delivery systems and expand access to affordable treatment for citizens across urban and rural areas.

Women empowerment and livelihoods

Sai noted that women empowerment programmes have played an important role in improving livelihoods and financial independence.

He said lakhs of women have been connected to self-help groups through various livelihood initiatives, creating opportunities for income generation and entrepreneurship.

The Chief Minister stated that these efforts have strengthened rural economies and increased women’s participation in community development activities.

Industry and investment growth

The letter also focused on industrial development and investment promotion in the state.

Sai said policy reforms and support from the Central Government have helped position Chhattisgarh as an attractive destination for investment. He noted progress in sectors such as mining, manufacturing and infrastructure development.

According to the Chief Minister, improved ease of doing business and policy support have encouraged both domestic and external investments in the state.

Tourism, digital governance and renewable energy

Highlighting other areas of growth, Sai pointed to progress in tourism, sports, skill development, digital governance, telecom connectivity, solar energy and irrigation infrastructure.

He said support from the Centre has enabled the state to undertake modernisation projects that contribute to long-term economic growth and improved quality of life.

The Chief Minister noted that digital governance initiatives have improved public service delivery, while investments in renewable energy and irrigation are expected to strengthen sustainable development.

Concluding his letter, Vishnu Deo Sai said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Chhattisgarh has witnessed significant progress across multiple sectors, including security, governance, infrastructure, agriculture, industry, tribal welfare and public services. He expressed confidence that continued cooperation between the Centre and the state would further accelerate development and improve the lives of citizens.
