Want to ‘punch’ opponent for claiming credit for my work: Kirron Kher

Chandigarh: BJP candidate from the Chandigarh Lok Sabha constituency lost her cool after a pamphlet was circulated by her opponent, Congress’ Pawan Kumar Bansal, taking credit for the work done by her.

An angry Kher was quoted by The Indian Express as saying, “Mainu inna gussa charhdaa hai, ik maaran ghassun agle tey (I feel so angry that I feel like punching him).”

The pamphlet was reportedly distributed with newspapers on Saturday and allegedly took credit for her development work over the past five years in Chandigarh. It also asserted that her achievements, including the construction of dwelling units under PMAY, conversion of residential property from leasehold to freehold, were all false.

Taking to Twitter in a video, Kher called the pamphlet a “giri hui harkat” (cheap behaviour) and towards the end of the video, tore it.

“I have to admit that no one can compete with you when it comes to telling lies. In these pamphlets you are sending out against me in today’s paper, you are trying to take credit for the development work I did in Chandigarh and for the people of the city over the past five years. I also could have distributed pamphlets against you. If you had really done all this work, you would not have the need to distribute these pamphlets at the last minute. The people of Chandigarh and the whole country knows what work I have done,” she said in the video.

When asked to comment on Kher’s video, Bansal asked if he was wrong to ask legitimate questions? “I expected a response to the issues, but she had no answers because she knows she is making false claims,” he said.
