A wedding in Surat took an unusual twist when the ceremony had to be relocated to a police station due to a food shortage. On Sunday, February 2, Anjali Kumari and Rahul Pramod Mahanto were about to exchange vows when an argument erupted over the food supply. Tensions escalated, leading the groom’s family to leave the venue, refusing to proceed with the ceremony.

In a state of shock, the bride, Anjali Kumari, turned to the police helpline for help. Local authorities quickly responded, bringing both families to the police station. However, the groom’s family remained firm in their decision to not return, citing concerns of further conflict. Despite the tension, the police stepped in with a compassionate solution, offering to facilitate the wedding at the Varachha Police Station.

In a heartwarming twist, the officers made arrangements for the couple to complete their wedding rituals at the station. Harish Sanghavi, Minister of State for Home, shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), praising the Surat police for their quick response and social policing skills. He commended the police for not only upholding the law but also playing a key role in uniting two families in such a unique manner.
