Kolkata: Trinamool Congress has released its Lok Sabha election manifesto on Wednesday, revealing a set of social welfare initiatives. Dubbed ‘Didir Shopoth’ (Didi’s pledges), the Trinamool’s manifesto pledges to introduce a range of measures aimed at enhancing the living standards of the people, including the revocation of the CAA and cessation of the NRC exercise if the INDIA bloc, their national-level ally, assumes power.

The Trinamool promises to guarantee employment, provide universal housing, distribute free LPG cylinders, ensure a minimum support price for farmers, and offer scholarships to SC, ST, and OBC students, among other initiatives.

Derek O’Brien, the party’s Rajya Sabha leader, releasing the manifesto stated, “These are the commitments we will honor as part of the INDIA bloc upon forming the next government.”

TMC made promise of enhancing the current Old Age Pension for individuals aged 60 and above to Rs 1,000 per month. It also pledges to cap the prices of petrol, diesel, and LPG cylinders to ensure affordability for the masses.

The manifesto announces to offer one-year apprenticeships with a monthly stipend to all graduates and diploma holders up to the age of 25. It also proposes the issuance of Student Credit Cards of up to Rs 10 lakh for higher education, along with tripling the number of scholarships for higher education among SC/STs and OBCs.

Though, the TMC withdrew from the INDIA bloc in January due to seat-sharing disputes with the Congress in Bengal, the party reaffirms its allegiance to the INDIA bloc at the national level.
